![]() For over 20 years Chef Christine Ferris has continuously expanded the wide range of cuisines she is familiar with, now encompassing French, Vietnamese, African, Indonesian, Persian, Turkish, Spanish, and Fijian styles of food preparation and presentation. Teaching is a way for her to share her philosophy about food, as well as the specific skills that make great cooking possible -- and enjoyable for the chef! Chris teaches a very wide range of topics, having recently taught cooking classes on chocolate; on various ethnic cuisines; on using spices and fresh herbs in cooking; and on Michigan’s organic specialty artisan foods, such as morel mushrooms, fiddlehead ferns, and fresh seasonal fruits. Some of her larger recent teaching venues include Fenn Valley Winery, Ox-Bow School of Art and Holland Farmer’s Market. Chris also teaches smaller classes, such as dinners for groups of friends and family, or advanced small group cooking classes in specialties such as sushi rolling or truffle making. Classes can be the entire focus of the gathering or simply a bonus tacked onto an otherwise great meal. We tailor the level of participation: from simple demonstrations accompanied by recipe handouts to try at home to fully hands-on advanced instruction. Either way, you get to sample the delicious results!
